STORY
Cafe Coco has been on Cowley Road since 1992. Over 30 years, it’s built up a loyal following of Oxford locals, students and visitors who keep coming back because there’s genuinely nowhere else quite like it.
It’s always been a bit different. The decor is a conversation starter, the menu goes further than you’d expect, and the atmosphere has its own energy that’s hard to pin down but easy to love.
Cafe Coco became a Cowley Road institution the old-fashioned way: by being genuinely good and genuinely welcoming, year after year.
We took over Cafe Coco in 2024 with a clear aim: keep everything that made people love it, and put real care back into every part of the experience. For us and our team, it’s not just a job. We’re passionate about this place, and we think you can tell.
Brunch is where the cafe really shines, but there’s so much more to enjoy – visit us for locally roasted coffee, lunch al fresco, a vibrant dinner, or just a drink on the terrace when the sun’s out. Whatever time you arrive, you’ll feel at home.

Food that’s worth talking about
The menu covers a lot of ground, from brunch classics and handmade pizzas to Mediterranean-inspired sharing dishes and seasonal mains. Everything’s made with care and priced fairly. It’s the kind of food you recommend to people.
A place for everyone
Cafe Coco has always been welcoming to everyone. Students, families, couples, locals and first-timers. No dress code, no attitude, no rush. Just good food, good drink and good company.
Over 30 years on Cowley Road
Cafe Coco opened in 1992 and it’s been going strong ever since. It’s a proper Oxford original, in what we like to call the ‘Sunny Side of Oxford’ on one of the city’s most vibrant and independent streets, loved by people who live here and sought out by visitors who know what to look for.
Quality without the fuss
We serve Missing Bean coffee, carefully chosen wines, classic cocktails and well-kept draught beers. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options run through the whole menu, not just tagged on at the end.
Best brunch we have ever had.
The Turkish eggs and French toast were delicious, with a great atmosphere and friendly service. We cannot wait to come back.
